So, I left for lunch, taking my keys with me so I could get something out of my car. And I hooked my keys over my waistband and walked over to Quizno's.
I ate lunch and headed back toward work.
I realized I didn't have my keys.
Oops.
After checking at Quizno's, the little grocery, the front desk of the dorm, at the front desk in the Office of Research, and with the campus cops, I headed back toward my building with a heavy heart.
Then I realized I'd missed one place -- the little deli on the corner. And someone had, in fact, turned in my keys there.
Whew.

I did that recently in Paducah, KY. THAT will teach me to detour from my tasks for home made ice cream, won't it?!!

Did you find yours, or did someone find them and turn them in?

Fortunately, I was actually staying with a friend of mine about 10 minutes away... but it did delay us from our tasks and create a good bit of panic for about half an hour LOL

We have people leaving keys- which they come back for quickly- and often wallets and cell phones on their carts. There's a place on the handle that has a 'where to find it' menu of the store and people put their wallets or their cell phones down there, unload the cart, take it and put it in the cart corral and get in their cars and leave without picking up wallet or cell phone. And then some kind soul will see it and bring it in to the service desk to turn in if the carts haven't been collected and the item found by the bagger collecting carts. This happens at least a couple of times a week and, so far, none of the items left have failed to be turned in.
