I have talked directly to Cris, as he has been moved out of almost-ICU into a regular room with a phone. He is in relatively good spirits. Current provisional diagnosis is Cushing's syndrome, apparently caused by a mass on his right adrenal gland.

This is not nearly as bad as it could be, and so I have, also provisionally, returned to my cheerful everyday icon. However, your continued Good Thoughts are welcome.
