janetmiles at 09:09am on 16/11/2009My home computer seems to have picked up Win-Antivir, or a variant thereof. Despite attempts with Norton Security, Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Malwarebytes removal tool, it's still infected.
Several different help sites offer several different paths to removal, which aren't helping.
I'm going to go with "nuke it 'til it glows, then shoot it in the dark". I'll be carefully consolidating all my files (which are spread out over several drives -- the plan was to have data on one drive, programs on another, and the OS on a third) -- onto a new backup drive, while checking and re-checking for the damn virus, then I'll reformat the drives and start fresh.
